Inspiration: Acts of Kindness

I appreciate random acts of kindness!

In my family, acts of kindness are frequent and on purpose!

I love this saying: 

Your Talents + Helping Others = Your Purpose

Recently my daughters performed the jig along with their cousin (who is a student of Irish Dance)!

My niece planned the event as entertainment for seniors at an assisted living center in our community.

What a nice way for these young ladies to use their talents to help others!  They provided the entertainment for free, and enjoyed sharing happiness with the residents!

Onto the next giving project!

I make fabric flowers all of the time, as you know.

I have to make use of all those scraps, of course!

One dear elderly woman who is a frequent shopper in my store has mentioned how she would love to sew flower embellishments on her plain t-shirts.  This gave me a reason to add some creativity to my day.  I would love to surprise her with some flowers I made to accessorize her clothing!  So I did just that, and she was certainly surprised when I handed her a bag full of flowers the next time she stopped in!  It is so much fun to make someone's day, and I've been hugged by many strangers because of it!

The point of this post is to encourage you to do something that will make someone feel special today!  Whatever your talent, use it to help someone in some way...even just to make their day!

DIY Jewelry Display Cards

Here is my first attempt at paper-backed jewelry display cards.

Previously I've used jewelry boxes, pouches and tins.

For these, I cut thicker glossy scrapbook paper to the desired sizes.  Then I attached my jewelry with ribbon.

I also used stickers to explain the product, and for branding.

Baby Announcement Jewelry:

For the Mother to wear to announce her baby's gender.

Also can be given to a grandmother as a gender announcement.

It's difficult to see in the photo, but each card says, "It's A Boy!" or "It's A Girl!"

 Jewelry for Confirmation and Communion:

So there's an easy idea for your jewelry displays!

If you have fancy paper, use it!

Recent Projects

I'll show you some samples of my recent work.

Hopefully it will provide some inspiration for my crafty friends.

I've been restocking jewelry in my store.

I love beading!  It's one of my favorite hobbies!

I'm starting to use chains more often (for variety).

I also have been getting into the "chunky" jewelry style with my work.

 Handmade cards are popular around here!

Often people will purchase a stack of them at a time,

so I have to make a lot at once to keep up with my customers!

The crystals are so blingy that the shine overpowered the beads in some photos!

Easy Cake Mix Banana Bread

Here's a recipe for one of the easiest banana breads to bake using real bananas.

 In my opinion, this banana bread tastes better than the boxed dry mix version.

 This is so delicious!!!!

Ingredients:

3-4 Bananas

1 Box Dry Yellow Cake Mix

2 Eggs

Optional: 1/2 cup nuts or chocolate chips

Mash the bananas in a large bowl

Mix in the dry cake mix and eggs.

Stir in the nuts or chocolate chips, if desired.

Pour in loaf pan, greased and floured.

Bake at 350 for 35 to 40 minutes.

*Note: It is generally recommended that you use overripe bananas for this recipe.

I use ripe (yellow) bananas, and bake it for closer to 50 minutes.

It is so delicious, considering how easy it is to make.
