DIY: Winding a Center Pull Ball of Yarn

Welcome to our blog tutorial of how to create your own center pull ball of yarn.

You will need a cardboard tube from a toilet paper roll or a roll from paper towels.

Feed the end of your yarn through the cardboard tube.
I find it best to feed the yarn all the way through the tube, and leave it there as you wind up your ball.

Wind the yarn around the tube several times to secure the loose end that is fed through the tube.  This will be your center pull end when you are finished.
Once that first end is secured on the tube, you should begin wrapping the yarn at an angle.
Wrap it several times in this direction, so it looks like this.
After you've completed about ten wraps at this angle, turn the tube and complete another ten wraps at the same angle.

Now continue turning the tube slowly as you wrap.

Your yarn ball will take shape as you continue to wrap.

Finally, pull the first end of yarn out of the tube, and carefully pull the cardboard tube out of the yarn ball.

 And...finished!
